5 Things I Wish I Knew Before Starting A Blog

This year will be six years of blogging for me and I still feel like I’m just starting. Back when I first decided to blog, it wasn’t as popular as it is now. I had no one to talk to for advice. There wasn’t really any post on how to start a blog and if there was, I didn’t know about it. I’m not one to really give advice on what to, I can only share my experience and hopefully you’ll learn a better way to do things. I do have some things I wished I would have known when it comes to blogging, but I don’t regret them because it helped me become better. So here are the five things I wish I that I knew before blogging!

Promoting Your Blog
I remember when I first started blogging, I had no clue what I was doing. To be honest I was so consumed with views and numbers. But who isn’t when you first start blogging? I wanted people to read what I had to say and the things that interests me. I didn’t realize that promoting your blog, was the key to get views and comments. I don’t know what I was thinking, except that I thought people would just somehow find me.

You’re Not Alone
When starting out as a blogger I felt so alone. Some of the people I talked to regularly on social media weren’t bloggers, they were all on YouTube. So no one really understood how I was feeling and most importantly I didn’t tell anyone I knew in real life. It wasn’t until the next year in 2013, when I started meeting other bloggers through Twitter that I felt like blogging wasn’t so bad. There was this community of other bloggers sharing the things that they love.

Don’t Give Up
My attitude now feels like, giving up is not an option for me. But back then I was ready to throw in the towel so many times. I didn’t give up though, because of that blogging is the first real thing I’ve been consistent with. It’s important not to give up and that motivates me more than ever before!

It’s Important To Be Organized
I fought so hard not to plan or schedule anything related to blogging. Honestly I didn’t feel it was necessary at the time. Whether it’s a hobby, part time or full time job I believe it’s important to keep track of posts and pictures. I’ve learned so much about being organized and it has really helped me.

Be Confident
It’s important to believe in yourself and the work that you publish. I’ve been blogging for a while now and I only started gaining confidence during my third year! I started as blogger with low self esteem and lacked a lot of confidence. I didn’t really have anyone to talk to about it, because no one in real life knew. I wish I could’ve talked to other bloggers, but I didn’t know them or have the confidence to talk to them first. It was 2015 when I first posted a picture of myself as my profile and I felt a huge relief. I realized I wanted people to know who I am and I wasn’t afraid anymore. I will never forget that moment!

I hope you enjoyed reading! What are some things you wish you knew before you started blogging?

  1. Congratulations on 6 years! That's amazing! Blogging really is extra tough when you're first starting out, but you have a lot of useful and very helpful tips here for new bloggers, and veteran bloggers could definitely benefit from reading this as well.

I still need to work on being more organized with scheduling and planning, I'm still all over the place, but I know how important it is.

    Thanks for sharing!

Helpful Posts/Sites For Bloggers

Being a blogger is not easy at all, whether it's a hobby or a job. Every blogger works so hard to put out quality work. But sometimes it can be a struggle. While in a blogging rut I came across a lot of posts that have helped me gain confidence. These posts also helped me realize my creativity; all I needed to do was use my noggin! But before you click on the links below, I'm going to explain what these links mean to me. I don't want to bore you but I'm hoping these will help you too.   Everytime I get into a blogging rut I always look at my blog design. Thinking that the design I have is always the problem, I go and I spend money to change it. In reality the major problem was myself. Now don't get me wrong, designs I've had were beautiful it just wasn't for me. During my long "break" or breakdown I did a lot of searching. I'm pretty sure you all heard of Etsy, am I right? This is where I found two shops that have helped me tremendous...

Is there a guide to blogging?

It's been 3 months since I started blogging and I already have 57 followers and I am so grateful and thankful. In a million years I would have never imagined being a blogger. But sometimes I do not feel like one. I mean I know being a successful and known blogger doesn't happen overnight, but sometimes I get discouraged. I have always been someone who is cautious and worries about what people think, so sometimes I feel no one will like what I post. I also feel like, because I am not a well known blogger no one will take the time and give me a chance. I am just being myself, is there something wrong with that? So I started feeling lost and I didn't know what to do; then I thought "Is there a guide to blogging?". Not only did I have these thoughts, but I was also thinking that there are so many wonderful bloggers (beauty, fashion, and lifestyle), so who would even notice my blog. So is there a book to teach people how to blog or am I just overreacting? Sometim...

Color Theory:8 Piece Ultimate Eyeliner Set

I love Eyeliner; eyeliner is my go to look. Anytime I had eyeliner my eyes would look like their dressed up! The only eyeliner I have ever wore up until this point was black; because that was the only color I thought was out (crazy of me right?!) Anyway lately I've seen many girls wear different color eyeliner, mainly on YouTube; so I knew immediately I would have to try it. After a while I forgot all about them, until Christmas of 2012 when I received them. I was so excited because my Mom didn't even know I wanted them; now that I am thinking I didn't even ask!  Now I can match up the colors with eyeshadow. Enough of that here's the box they came in and I have the colors listed below. On the back it just talks about the different styles you can do with the eyeliners. For example: The famous winged look (instructions for it are on the back).                                ...
