Finding My Passion For Blogging Again

At some point in time, when your heart isn’t into something you should take a break. Blogging is great and I couldn’t see myself without it. However sometimes it can get overwhelming and that’s what happened to me this year. For about eight months I have not blogged and I thought I was a bad person for that. I have realized that it was best to take the long break. In doing so, I have found so many things I love to talk about. I was holding myself back because I put a label on myself, wanting to be known as a beauty blogger. Sure I attached the lifestyle part, but honestly I don’t really know what that means.

During this year I had time to reflect on where I wanted my blog to go and whether I even wanted to write anymore. Honestly the motivation to blog was not there at all and at that time, I really didn’t care if I continued. I did not want to look at my blog or deal with it. For me I was tired of putting in the work and not getting anything in return. Meaning no one was really reading my blog, no matter how many times I promoted. I felt like there was no point. While taking a break, I realized how miserable I felt while blogging for the past year. My photos were not where I wanted them to be and I just wanted to stop. I started comparing my photos to others and that’s something I did not what to happen, but it did and I learned from it.

Today makes six years of blogging for me and I’m ready to get back to what I love to do. Sometimes you need to step away from something to either realize how much you love it or whether it’s time to throw in the towel and let it go. I have been consistent with blogging whether I did it a few times a year or everyday, so letting this go was not an option for me.

I’ve grown so much and decided that it was time to stop hiding under one niche. Personally it is not for me to stick to one niche and I know this was mentioned before on a few other posts of mine, but I truly mean it this time! I believe that when you limit yourself, you are holding back from your true potential. I started blogging for me and I had to remember that. If I enjoy what I write that’s what is most important. People will feel that positive energy and enjoy reading your blog!

Over the years I have come to the realization that, we are constantly learning something new from blogging. There’s really no rules to it. Have fun, enjoy, meet other bloggers and be yourself. So much has changed in the blogging community and it’s so many supportive people out there. I lost my creativity for a while and I didn’t know why it left me. But looking through old arts and crafts of mine, really motivated me to find my passion for blogging again.

Remember that you have absolutely every right to take a break from blogging. You don’t have to apologize for needing one either. A lot of times when you force yourself to do something, you get overwhelmed. It’s important to stop and relax then come back new and refreshed!

Thank you for reading my post!

  1. I am glad you are back to blogging! I felt the same way and stopped blogging for about 6 months as well. I could not handle going to school and blogging. I also could not handle how slow things were going as far as my blogging stats. The break has helped me alot and now I am focused on creating content instead of worrying about stats!

  2. I completely agree, sometimes you need to step away and re-evaluate what you really want from something. I feel like that with my second blog just now and I'm glad I've given myself the time and space to remember what I loved about it and not making it so much about what I thought others expected from me.

  10. OMG, this was such a good post! It really resonated with me, because I feel the exact same way!! I've ready so many how-to posts on how to grow your blog, YouTube audience, etc. and they all say that you have to find one niche and stick to it. That's a struggle for me, because I want to write about things that make me happy or that I believe can help others...and it's not always makeup-related, lol. I believe that once you're really content with who you are and you start writing about what's important to you, the confidence that you exude will become attractive and contagious...and the people who it's meant for will find your blog-like me! Welcome back to the blogging world:-)

    1. Thank you so much! I wanted to make this post as raw as possible. I didn’t want to sugarcoat anything about, how I was feeling. That’s what made me feel confident about this post!

E.l.f. Eye Brushes

Although this haul is very small, I just wanted to share with you what I brought. I decided to buy brushes, because I needed them more! The first brushes I were eco-friendly and were really good, but their were more face brushes, then eye brushes. So that wasn't really helpful to me. It was only one eye shadow brush. I rarely shop online, I always go to the store. But I was bored one day and I guess this is what happened! I am really excited to try these brushes! I also brought some things from BH cosmetics, but that's for another post! Eye Shadow Brush The eye shadow brush is supposed to help apply the eye shadow evenly and make it easier. This sounds good, because the brushes I used in the past were tough and hard. It seemed like I had to put a lot of eye shadow on, before it actually showed up on my eyes. Blending Eye Brush This brush is supposed to blend the eye shadows, while softening dramatic edges and lines. This is really good, because before I ha
