Meet My August Advertiser: Ugne

During my time of blogging, I met lovely people who advertised my blog.  So for the month of August, I decided to try something new. To give back and share the love I decided to offer free advertising on my blog. During this month I got the chance to advertise three lovely bloggers. So here is one of my advertisers, Ugne! Ugne blogs over at Her Lovely Life, so be sure to check her out. She blogs about beauty, fashion, and lifestyle things. If you want to know more, keep reading!

1. How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging for only a short time. I started quite a few blogs when I was younger, but the thoughts and ideas never seemed to actually leave my mind and enter the pages. So, blogging consistently and with a goal of meeting new people and learning new things has only been a recent addition to my hobbies, but a great one. I started this blog a month or two ago, but it was quite a while in the making.

2. What inspired you to start a blog?
I don’t remember, to be honest! I remember reading a few blogs and thinking “I could do that!” so I decided to! I’m a thinker at heart, I love learning, and I love sharing things I find fascinating with anyone and everyone willing to listen. In a blog, nobody has to be directly invested in listening to you for the writing to happen, so an audience is only secondary to my desire to write my thoughts out. So, I got a simple template, and started writing.

3. What goals do you have for yourself and your blog?
To connect more with others! It’s so isolating sometimes, being someone who can’t call blogging their full time job, yet needing to be just as invested in it as one. My largest goal is to make lasting relationships with bloggers that see me as more than just a pretty blog design or photo, but as a cool person with an intelligent voice. I think that’s largely missing in the blogging crowd, since it’s being so rapidly monetized. I want to be more genuine, and an interesting read to myself, and a stranger thousands of miles away.

4. Where do you see your blog in the next year?
EVERYWHERE! I don’t mean that in an I’ll be so famous you’ll eat your hat way, but in a I’m literally going to travel the world way. I want to travel to loads of foreign countries as part of my design studies, and to experience life in as many world views as possible.

5. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I see myself living in Europe, doing my own thing. I’m native to Lithuania, so I miss home every second. To be closer to my family and the culture I grew up with is something I want very dearly. Hopefully, I’ll be in a small studio with a great attic view, working on a thousand things, slowly making a name for myself.

6. What have you learned since you started blogging?
I’ve learned to be nice to strangers! The power of a kind word is truly a self-empowering thing. I also discovered how to be confident in yourself, without sacrificing security or safety. The internet is an awesome, powerful place.

7. What are the positives and negatives of blogging?
It’s definitely a difficult road to travel. Everyone sees their blog as great, because it’s their lives! The market is so saturated with bloggers, it can be difficult to isolate your brand from the crowd. But there are things that make it truly worth it. You can write about anything at all, meet people who like the same things you do, and see how people live around the world, but in real, human ways. I’ve discovered that truly every student, be it in India, England or Chicago, struggles with the same things, and it’s a liberating feeling to not having to stress about being “normal.” Seeing lives being lived out in real time is such an invigorating experience.

8. Would you want to turn this hobby into a career in the future?
Definitely! Upon discovering blogging, my career choices shifted a little. I’m studying graphic and industrial design, something I never knew even existed! I want to pursue a career in the digital world, and I’m hoping I’ll one day be successful in making meaningful connections between more people than just the few amazingly special people I’ve met so far.

9. Are you influenced by other bloggers?
Every day! Every new blog I read, I take something from. What works for them, a pleasing aesthetic, anything that it might be, and adapt it to my own needs. There are a few ladies that truly rock my socks, that deserve all the love in the world. But my inspiration comes from everyone. I try not to read the really popular blogs, but to see what new and unique perspectives are shown in parts of the internet that aren’t as commonplace yet, that way I can move with the new wave of internet creators, not the big dogs.

10. Has blogging changed you? (Have you made any friends or experienced new things)
Of course! I’ve met so many lovely people, that I couldn’t leave the blogging world simply for them! If you’re dedicated enough, you’ll find that there are a plethora of people who are kind, wise, brilliant, funny and generally amazing that are as passionate as you are. Those are the people that make blogging worth it. And for me, those people change and make me a better person every day.

Helpful Posts/Sites For Bloggers

Being a blogger is not easy at all, whether it's a hobby or a job. Every blogger works so hard to put out quality work. But sometimes it can be a struggle. While in a blogging rut I came across a lot of posts that have helped me gain confidence. These posts also helped me realize my creativity; all I needed to do was use my noggin! But before you click on the links below, I'm going to explain what these links mean to me. I don't want to bore you but I'm hoping these will help you too.   Everytime I get into a blogging rut I always look at my blog design. Thinking that the design I have is always the problem, I go and I spend money to change it. In reality the major problem was myself. Now don't get me wrong, designs I've had were beautiful it just wasn't for me. During my long "break" or breakdown I did a lot of searching. I'm pretty sure you all heard of Etsy, am I right? This is where I found two shops that have helped me tremendous...

My Top 5 Current Beauty Favorites!

I'm not one who has a lot of favorite products, but when I do it's worth sharing. Call me boring, but I'm someone who follows all the trends. Half of the time I don't even buy products that are "most known" or "popular". At the moment I have a handful of products I'm really loving. I'm a picky person when it comes to a lot of things, but these products are great to use. If you are on a budget these products are very affordable and they definitely don't disappoint!   Swissco Detangle Brush I love this detangler brush, it works great on my hair. Although I found this at Marshalls you can find online as well. Both prices are $6! That's very affordable in my opinion, compared to brushes that cost double. You can use this on wet and dry hair. I've tried both and it works very good. When it's time to twist or braid my hair I will use this brush. Most importantly I will use this brush before washing my hair and during th...

E.l.f. Eye Brushes

Although this haul is very small, I just wanted to share with you what I brought. I decided to buy brushes, because I needed them more! The first brushes I were eco-friendly and were really good, but their were more face brushes, then eye brushes. So that wasn't really helpful to me. It was only one eye shadow brush. I rarely shop online, I always go to the store. But I was bored one day and I guess this is what happened! I am really excited to try these brushes! I also brought some things from BH cosmetics, but that's for another post! Eye Shadow Brush The eye shadow brush is supposed to help apply the eye shadow evenly and make it easier. This sounds good, because the brushes I used in the past were tough and hard. It seemed like I had to put a lot of eye shadow on, before it actually showed up on my eyes. Blending Eye Brush This brush is supposed to blend the eye shadows, while softening dramatic edges and lines. This is really good, because before I h...
