Salted and Unsalted Butter
Before I started using unsalted butter, I didn't know it even existed. In fact I didn't even pay attention to the word salted on the package. But after watching Laura in the kitchen I knew unsalted would be healthier way. We all need salt in our bodies, but there is a such thing of too much salt. In a stick of salted butter there is 90mg of sodium. Again I'm not an expert/nutritionist, this is just what I know. A lot of people use salt in their meals and if you decide to use butter, choose the unsalted. You will have more control in how you can put in. An I making sense?
Vegetable Oil and Olive Oil
Vegetable oil is heavier than olive oil. You can still cook the same foods. I still use vegetable oil, but only in selective dishes. For example, olive oil burns easily so you might need to use vegetable oil. Sometimes olive oil can be too strong in a dish, if so I would then use vegetable oil. But there are other alternatives like: canola oil.
Ground Beef and Ground Turkey
I am not a fan of ground turkey, but I've gotten use to it. I haven't cut out ground beef, but I don't eat it as often because of the ground turkey. In stead of eating a regular hamburger, try a turkey burger. I've tried it and I'm not as grossed out by it. Although I don't plan on eating again anytime soon. However, I do like ground turkey in pasta. Only because you can't really tell the difference with the pasta sauce and some extra seasoning.
Regular Pasta and Wheat Pasta
I've tried, test, and I don't like wheat pasta. It's not that great what's so ever. It has this nutty bite to it and that's not appealing. So I will be sticking to my regular pasta and my regular carbs!
White Bread and Wheat Bread
I have tried both breads and I may alternate. But I don't think wheat bread is any different or at least that's what I've read. While eating wheat bread I feel healthier. But who know which is the better option.
I hope you found this helpful and let me know what substitutes/ alternatives you have!
I struggle with eating healthy so this is a great post to see in my feed today!
ReplyDeleteI have recently discovered 9 bars which are absolutely gorgeous and gluten, wheat and dairy free - they are soooo yummy too, they don't even seem like they are healthy! I'm going to do a post about them soon :)!
